The Sudanese community in the Netherlands staged a demonstration in The Hague on Tuesday against the ongoing violations against civilians in Darfur and the Nuba Mountains.
Demonstrators represented all the civil society organisations, opposition political forces, the Union of the Darfuri people, the Solidarity of Nuba Mountains, the Committee against the Dams, and the Sudanese committee of asylum seekers.
âWe demand a halt to the crimes committed by the Khartoum regime against its own people.â
Imam Musa Imam, the general coordinator of the democratic forum who spoke on behalf of the protestors described the demonstration as successful.
He explained to Radio Dabanga that the demonstrators submitted memoranda to the Dutch Foreign Ministry and the Dutch Parliament via the Dutch Police. The memoranda explain the violations, air raids, and the recent massacres in Darfur, Heiban, Azirni, as well as other issues that plague all parts of Sudan.
Participants carried placards demanding that the Sudanese government allow humanitarian aid to reach the afflicted in the Nuba Mountains.
âWe demand a halt to the crimes committed by the Khartoum regime against its own people,â Imam Musa said.
