A women's demonstration in Khartoum to protest against the rape allegations

Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-Department of Combat Violence Against Women, in coordination with Sudanese Female parliamentarians and Women Union, called for demonstration on Thursday in protest at the allegations of rape of women in the village of Tabit, North Darfur The demonstrators would submit a note of protest to the United Nations (UN) offices, UNAMID mission and the Dutch Embassy. The Director of Department of Combat Violence Against Women, Dr. Atiyat Mustafa explained that the aim of the rally is to show rejecting of Sudanese women to exploit Sudanese women for international political interests and punishing of Dabanga Radio which broadcast the allegations without checking their authenticity She pointed out that rape claims in the village is violation of women in the region which has created psychological, social and family instability, adding the demonstration will demand the Dutch Embassy to withdraw license of Dabanga Radio
