People living in the Red Sea state capital complain about a rapid deterioration in the conditions in the Port Sudan Hospital.
Activist Ali Munib reported to Radio Dabanga from Port Sudan that the health services in the Port Sudan Teaching Hospital significantly deteriorated the past couple of years.
“Life-saving medical devices broke down, oxygen cylinders are empty, and the wards are extremely dirty,” he explained. “It is as if the medics in the hospital have given up hope on any improvement from the side of the government.”
The majority of the people cannot afford treatment at a private hospital, he added. “Many poor patients stay at home. They suffer while this should not be necessary, while others die from diseases that can be treated easily.”
