Sudan's Democratic Unionist Party welcomes the constitutional amendments

Jan 06, 2015-Khartoum-SudaneseOnline- Sudan's Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), led by Mohamed Osman al-Mirghani, welcomed the constitutional amendments approved by Parliament, praising including peace agreements in the Constitution as an important political benefit, stressing that many changes in the political arena pushed to make amendments. Sudan’s Parliament approved on Sunday amendments to the interim Constitution of 2005, in which the president has the right to appoint Governors of the stats rather than elect them and transforming the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) to regular force and appointment of judges. The senior figure of DUP, Ahmed Sa’ad Omar, told Sudan News Agency (SUNA) on Monday that the amendments inserted to the present Constitution came as political changes “Since our participation in the broad-based Government we were major players in all the variables and, therefore, we support these amendments according to the federal system and the negative impact of choosing Governors ". Omar added Omar said that including of Doha Agreement and Eastern Agreement in the Constitution considered a political benefit in accordance with the agreements signed under international supervision, adding that the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) resulted in a constitution with special specifications for specific conditions.
