Al-Fasher, Nov. 9 (SUNA)- The Wali (governor) of North Darfur State, Abdul-Wahid Yousif, pointed out that the state recently witnessed remarkable stability in the security situation, excluding few isolated security incidents. Addressing North Darfur's Legislative Assembly, Yousif asserted the keenness of his state to prevent security incidents, encourage reconciliations, holding conferences for patching up the rifts in the social fabric and preventing confrontation between farmers. He attributed the stability in the security situation to the commitment to implementing the directives of the President of the Republic for the Walis (governors) of the states. The Wali also referred to decrease in the crime rate, explaining that the murder crimes had dropped by 20%, robbery crimes dropped by 24% and rape crimes have decreased by 36%. He acknowledged the increase in abduction and drugs crimes, indicating that efforts are being exerted to combat these crimes. He said that the second session of the state's Legislative Assembly comes when the country advents a new era of peace, security and stability by holding the National Dialogue Conference for the sake of solving Sudan problems by its people. He renewed call on all the gun-holders to join the peace and development process. Yousif has referred to the efforts being carried out by the state for implementing the reform program, revising the laws, enhancing the federal government experiment and the foreign policy.
