The leaders of the Rufaa tribes in Sudan’s Sennar state south of Khartoum have demanded the dismissal of the state Governor, El Dhow El Mahi, during a press conference held in Singa on Wednesday.
Speaking to Radio Dabanga from Singa, the Nazer of the Rufaa tribes in Sennar state, Yousif Ahmed Yousif, said that the leaders of the tribe submitted a memorandum to demand the dismissal of the Governor of Sinnar. The memorandum also calls for the Abu Tira militia “to be held accountable for terrorising the residents of Altro area of El Masmom locality, and the arrest 27 of them, including native administration leaders of the tribe earlier this month.
Regarding the main problems facing the residents of Sennar state, Yousif said that state government has been deceiving the central government in the implementation of the decisions issued by the Presidency of Sudan since 2013.
He said that all the successive governors of the state have not carried out the implementation of the decisions issued for the development of the state. They have also “failed to implement any of these services including opening of tracks, residential land planning and providing humanitarian services”.
He called upon the Khartoum government to send a neutral central committee to the state to investigate on the ground to identify the projects the state governments claimed to have implemented.
