Khartoum-7-8-2016-(SUNA)- The Delegation of the European Union to Sudan announced the end of the assignment of H.E. Ambassador Tomas Ulicny, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Sudan.
The European diplomat commenced his mission in February 2012.
He orchestrated constructive and balanced improvements in the Euro-Sudanese relations and shaped new areas of cooperation. During his term, European development assistance to Sudan increased and the areas of cooperation further diversified.
The Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Sudan currently oversees the implementation of 68 ongoing development assistance projects, with a total value of 115.6 million Euros.
In parallel, 40 million Euros are provided for humanitarian aid projects managed separately by the European Community Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO).
The EU projects are implemented by UN Agencies, international organisations and Sudanese non-governmental organisations.
The Delegation of the European Union announced that Ambassador Tomas finalised his farewell meetings with Sudanese government officials, politicians and civil society leaders, in which he thanked all the stakeholders for their cooperation and called on them to extend the same level of collaboration to his successor.
He further stated that the EU will continue to support international efforts aimed at achieving sustainable peace through an inclusive and comprehensive national dialogue and remains fully committed to promoting the human rights of all Sudanese citizens.
The Delegation of the European did not provide further details on the next European Union Ambassador, but announced that he is expected to arrive in September 2016.
