Sudanese policy-makers build on what they don’t have by Adaroub sedna onour

I can easily adduce ample historical literature to back my argument that the ruling regime of Sudan is squarely to blame for the current deterioration, unrest, instability, economic collapse and looming disintegration in Sudan. Because of the lies and contradictions of its officials which do not reflect the basic facts and realities on the ground. For instance, they call for boosting economic growth but impose back-breaking taxes on farmers and small business retailers؟ They announce for foreign investment opportunities and shuttle the world trying to lure investors, and when a few of them do come they put insurmountable obstacles in their way, let alone the blood-boiling barriers of bureaucracy, uncertainty and high risks؟ Understandably this scares away any profit-seeking investor who will figure out that pulling off any profit in such an environment is absolutely unlikely. Moreover almost all officials from ministers down to gate-keepers ask openly and shamelessly for commissions and bribes. Moreover Those holing positions in the investment authorities don’t scribble their signatures on any papers unless they receive their bribes cash -up front؟ logically enough these policies resulted in farmers deserting farming as a profession for ever and prospectus investors parking their savings elsewhere (even Sudanese businessmen invest heavily in neighboring Ethiopia؟) which means that their unstable country is promoting for investment in self-deception ,because no investor in his proper senses would come and blow away his money in a crises-ridden country buffed by series of problems ranging from unsolvable civil wars, state-sponsored corruption ,lawlessness ,bankruptcy and chaotic economic environment . Ironically, the ruling cabal of Sudan and their advisers handle the news of their soon-to-collapse rouge state with extraordinary nonchalance, hoping that events will somehow take different course؟ While loyalists of the regime take advantage of the favorable situation to tighten their grip and monopolize the domestic economy by engaging in all types of legal and illegal businesses to further inflate their ill-gotten fortunes, to the extent that not a day passes without a scandal of their importing of expired, contaminated, unfit for human consumption consumer goods, drugs or even chemical waste which they simply bury in the country under their regime nose؟ In this context it is worth mentioning that the local papers which howled with indignation over some gross irregularities were duly punished for it in broad day light (the editor –in- chief of the daily ALTAYAR was assaulted and beaten badly in his own office and the offenders disappeared without trace؟) yet, to cap it all off the isolated regime resorts to naïve self-convincing practices , such as organizing conferences, symposiums and workshops under funny names such like: summit of African first ladies, league of free African parliamentarians ,African youth summit etc. Of course the attendees of these congregations come from countries like..Cheychelles island, Comoros Islands, Chad, Central African Republic etc.. Which are no help if the objective of those conferences were aiming at helping the cornered regime break out of international isolation؟ But in fact the regime is only trying to throw dust in the eyes of its own members who are beginning to question the fact of their regime being an indispensable regional player… Actually many observers reckon the regime has grasped the extent of its crisis, but it is torn up between interest groups and power-bases who believe the current lawlessness is ideal for their inordinate demands and vested interests . by contrast the opposition groups have nothing in common other than toppling the regime , whereas the international community has well-founded worries of things getting out of hand ,therefore it is keen to manage the crisis and contain the warring rivals and harvest when events ripen in its favor ,which means Sudanese disputes will be shelved for the present time ,so in the meantime the loudmouthed ,romantic internal policy-makers have an extra opportunity to keep lying while the long time brewing tensions and conflicts threaten to gather momentum and fling the war-torn country into the unknown .
