ملتقي أيوا يرسل خطاب شديد اللهجة لأوباما و غريشن و الكونجرس الأمريكي عن الإنتخابات في السودان

Dear Mr. President
The Iowa Forum for Democratic Transformation in Sudan (IFDT) Statement: Boycotting Sudan’s Flawed Election Process
The Iowa Democratic Transformation refutes, disapproves and rejects the Presidential and Parliamentary elections to be held in Sudan from 11 April to 13 2010. These elections are intended to bring an end to the transitional period that began when the decades-long second Sudanese civil war ended in 2005.
Recent remarks by U.S Envoy to Sudan, Scott Gration raised concerns in US and in Sudan about Washington policy towards Sudan.
The IFDT confirms that the statement by Scott Gration, “the elections will be fair and free as possible,” does not agree with the current reality in Sudan, where all major opposition parties have boycotted these elections.
The IFDT express their utmost concern over the irregularities in the electoral process combined with the ICC indictment to Sudan’s sitting President, as main reasons to reject the whole process.
IFDT opposes the National Congress (NC) Party’s hidden agenda to use the forthcoming elections to legitimize Al Bashir as a democratically elected president. The election process has been marred by fraudulent practices; it is not open, it is not free and it is not just! The Electoral Commission has not lived up to its sacred oath and did not observe it’s neutrally; this is not surprising since its members were selected by the NC. For security reasons, the European Union recalled its monitors from Darfur; this support the illegitimacy of the election by excluding the Darfurians and denies one-third (1/3) of Sudan population their right to vote.
Most of the Sudanese political parties have contested the national security laws that hampered the process of conducting credible elections calling for Al Bashir to suspend these laws. With the NC’s strong grip on security forces, laws and the country’s resources, it is impossible to have free and open elections process.

خطابي إلى الرئيس أوباما
April 10, 2010
Dear President Obama,
There are better choices available to the Sudanese people than those your envoy Scott Gration is presenting to us. American policy towards Sudan, as represented by Mr. Gration, is based on:
• Tearing off the South; • Consolidating the theological military dictatorship in the remainder of the country, starting with supporting the sham elections; and • Solving the government’s problem in Darfur – rather than meeting the needs of the people of Darfur.
The majority of the Sudanese people, as expressed during the Juba Conference in 2009, have not given up hope of a better future, that comprises:
• Living together in equality, regardless of race, religion or culture; consequently,
• Maintaining the unity of our country; and
• Restoring real democracy, which is the key to solving all our problems (including the war in Darfur).
The role your envoy Gration is playing in Sudan does nothing to solve our country’s problems – it only adds to them.
In fact, the role he is playing is a great disappointment to the Sudanese people. We remember the just comments you made about the genocide during your visit to Darfur. We built hope upon your election, both because of your commitment and for what your election affirmed: that the principles of freedom and equality are essential bases for living together.
To ensure that the United States is not involved in the destruction of Sudan, please replace or withdraw your envoy Mr. Scott Gration, and let the Sudanese people, led by their democratic parties, solve their problems on the basis of equality, unity, democracy and peace.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Elbagir Osman
