Last week I said to a friend that I am starting to dislike President Salva kiir Mayardit personally. That hasn't happened before. Every President in my lifetime has made mistakes, but it didn't cause me to dislike them as people.
Mr. Kiir is the exception.
In essence, Mr. Kiir's no stranger to controversies that enrage the the people he governs. In a speech marking the inauguration of Juba- Bor road, the President basically told the people of the republic that the Dinka language is now the undisputed official language 'du jour ' in South Sudan!
By so doing, the President has provided an atmosphere of division among the citizens of the country in which over sixety different ethnic groups call it home.
Those in attendance, including diplomatic representation as well as other nationalities were left scratching their collective head in disbelief.
All told, the President's actions were down right provocative, insensitive and gravely perilous to the core fabric of the nation in such a way that, if tolerated,could possibly lead to an ethnocetric based crimes, which will turn the nation into turmoil, disintegration, and in worst case scenario, an ethnic cleansing and ultimately the national state of extinction, observed Dr. Tegga Lendado, Ph.d., Paster and and an internationally recognized Scholar, who hails from Ethiopia.
That begs the question as to when and how has the Dinka language been bestowed the title of the country's language-in-Chief that no one else seems to know about it!!
Now, do you smell napitism here؟ Well, look no further than the people the President surrounds himself with, and be the judge!!
