(This article was written before Dr. Hamdok’s resignation and departure from Sudan)

I am truly very enchanted, fascinated and impressed of the personality and qualities of His Excellency the Prime Minister Dr. Hamdok. He possesses a genuine and unadulterated gentleman’s character, temperament and moral fiber. He acts with a crystal clear wisdom, audacity and confirmatory motion. I can go unremittingly to describe his good merits, virtues and values that we have all acknowledged; nevertheless this is not the theme of this article. I am strongly inclined to believe that he is sitting on the wrong chair of the transitional period’s government. When he came to Sudan he assumed that Allah has given him an opportunity to participate in humanizing the ghastly conditions in his beloved country. He rolled up his sleeves to dive and immerse heroically into the depth of Sudan’s diverse predicaments and sticky situations. Unfortunately, he soon came to discover that he was in the middle of a vicious circle with very meager support from the other political parties who were surrounding him from all sides. He was left with the only two options of quitting and withdrawing from the political arena or continuing with his aspirations and strong will for helping his country. He went on with his concentrated efforts and did not surrender, breakdown or felt vanquished and routed.

I am sure that some of my readers might have different opinions about what I have written above. I have taken liberty of the democratic freedom of speech that we are enjoying nowadays. Those who have different opinions are of course having an unadulterated privilege to exercise the same freedoms of speech and rest assured that I fully respect their views, contemplations and brain waves. Sudan is currently undergoing a dismal rainbow of convolutions, intricacies and obscurities. This gentleman has sacrificed his international outstanding occupation and superlative living and working conditions to voluntarily hurry up and rush quickly to help his beloved country. All Sudanese people have appreciated his keenness or involvement and contribution immensely. They decided immediately to offer him the uppermost prime role and place him on the niche of a prime minister. It was a good gesture from them thinking that their proffer represented the highest post available for them to offer at that time. Counting on the support and collaboration of the other political entities around him, Dr. Hamdok did not want to disappoint the Sudanese nation and agreed to work as a prime minister thus standing against very thorny and knotty situations. .

Unfortunately and before long Dr. Hamdok discovered that with the exception of very few persons each and every one of those who were surrounding him came with a hidden agenda and personal motives. They wanted things to be done to the satisfactions and benefits of their personal or political advantages and rewards. He tried diplomatically in vain to perform series of tactics and maneuvers to liberate and unshackle him from those spiteful and nasty pressures. I am inclined to believe that he desolately felt that those people wanted their demands to be accepted and implemented because they did him a favor by placing him as a prime minister. It really hearts any honest and a straightforward gentleman like him to be in such an awkward dilemma, catastrophic state of affairs and a frustrating catch-22. His continues attempts to gradually correct the situation backfired on him from other entities in the poetical arena who considered him as a failure in achieving any progress to improve the political situation and people’s living conditions. He regrettably had to shoulder the whole blame for all the messes caused by the other players in the political arena.

Accordingly he didn’t resent Al-Burhan’s decision of removing him from his niche and appointment as prime minister and wisely waited for the political dust to settle down. Thousands of demonstrators and representatives of the international community protested against Al-Burhan’s decision who claimed that his resolution originated from his corrective plan of action for the political and economical situations. Nevertheless he had to reverse his decision thereafter and sign an agreement with Dr. Hamdok to reappoint him as a prime minister who should appoint a new team of ministers who do not come from under any political parties’ umbrellas. Signing that agreement backfired again on Dr. Hamdok’s face from all those who were previously gaining a lot from achieving and accomplishing their personal motives and hidden agendas. This time Dr. Hamdok found himself surrounded by enemies who no longer appreciated his political existence as a prime minister. Although I am sanguine that he is strong enough to stand against those new hindrances, I feel very sorry that he continued since his arrival date to correct the attitude of those who were surrounding him instead of devoting his efforts for performing his tough and severe duties.

The responsibilities of a prime minister requires specific types of politicians who qualify for twisting and falsification of some political maneuvers and chipping corners of some others to suite their fishy aims and objectives. Those are the categories of behaviors that don’t tone with or match up with the merits, virtues and values of a gentleman like Dr. Hamdok. That was the reason behind my early statement about his sitting on a wrong chair. I would certainly join many other Sudanese who are currently praying for him to accomplish .his mission successfully. However, I personally think that Dr. Hamdok is the ideal and perfect choice for a gentleman who should be considered for the political niche of a State President in any type of future formation of a Sudanese government.
