The Sudanese despot, gen. omer beshir, who is ruling since 1989 a country now teetering between bankruptcy and lawlessness, seems to bet on the new us elect-president Donald trump’s strategy of non-interference in internal affairs of world states, and to a lesser degree hopes to capitalize on the seemingly friendly relationship the new incumbent is believed to enjoy with his ally, Russian president, Vladimir Putin. And just in case things might not come as he would have liked, he called for what he named (the internal dialogue) for which he summoned all his loyalists, partisans and their trusted friends, threatening that this roll of opportunity should not slip away from them, because his patience is not limitless promising –usual as always- to do everything in his power to bring about peace to Sudan, at the end of his self-initiated internal dialogue, which is on session since 1989؟؟ Evidently the chief concern of the troubled man, wanted by the ICC for genocide ,war crimes and crimes against humanity ,is to map out some sort of exit-strategy granting him impunity and, preferably, dropping the charges and other countless accusations brought against him and his unscrupulous top-aides, who only now, realized their failure ,not only in running their isolated regime ,but their glaring failure to furnish the badly-needed operation costs for the numerous security units protecting the collapsing tyranny؟ This is the truth, pure and simple, which is barely reported outside of Sudan. After all, the regime head and its curators are all, more or less, implicated in horrendous atrocities committed during the past 27 years and, understandably, have no relish for any external dialogues which do not include their personal safety. So, any deal or arrangements not giving assurances and grantees of their safety will simply be shrugged off, as being something inapplicable and unacceptable. Therefore the regime’s vivid insistence on dialogue should be viewed in the context of its being an isolated and outlaw regime, unpopular, and now facing a mounting internal popular discontent and irritation plus, the fizzling out of its hopes of attracting foreign investors. Knowing that its initial strategy (in 1989)was unrealistically expansionist and aggressive (it was directly behind many failed regime -change attempts in all the neighboring countries؟)Hence, persuading such a radical regime to develop a political will to reach a seamless deal sounds simple, but has proven elusive over the last 27 years, judging by its lurching in and out of chaos since 1990, which marked the commencement of the so called futile internal dialogues ,an indication that the arriere-pensee of the now fatigued regime ,is only to shuffle out of responsibility for the mind-numbing grand crimes of the past 27 years of its barbaric absolute rule ,not, at any rate, a genuine desire for change or relinquishing power؟ More over, the regime prominent figures are realistic enough to know the impact of their anti-people policies, and know very well that change is now compelling and crucial, if the country is to remain held together and united. Yet, again, they are only keen to agree to some degree of slight change tailored to their desire, not a forced one, threatening to bring down their regime and strangle them in courts of law in and outside Sudan. Unfortunately, such deal-impossible is not on the table, not because it doesn’t adequately address the demands of the political opponents and regime victims, but because the Sudanese crisis is no longer an internal affair. Thanks though, to the insane and unprofessional pro-tyranny diplomats, whom the regime hired to subrogate those fired, for fear of their disloyalty to the regime in the early 90s. These amateur diplomats, without sound experience or background failed to communicate with the regime political opponents, which eventually lured regional and international players to step in to fill the vacuum, a situation well-received by the regime which is seeking to blame on others the insolubility of its own self-inflicted crises to take breath and buy time by capitalizing on the contradictions and conflicting agendas of the external players/mediators.
