I thought of him today!!i

i This morning, thinking about the old Sudanese man who was killed on that grim Friday morning on January 1985, I was wondering what exactly went through his mind during those days before his death. He certainly made a choice: To Stand for What He Believes… Whether you are one of his foes and enemies or his followers and sympathisers, you will have to admit that M M Taha believed in his ideas and way of thinking and that he died a man honouring his beliefs. i
But this is just one reason I thought; a reason we can all see and understand. This old man also chose to speak, and tell us in clear words why he made the choice he is making: He didn’t say to his killers and persecutors: I am Right And Absolutely Confident of my Beliefs And That’s Why I Will Die For Them! No; instead he said: i
He was clearly not talking to them; he was not talking to Nemairi, not to Turabi and not Mahllawi either. He must have being talking to us: The Sudanese people. He must have believed in us too, just as he believed in his ideas and stance in life! He must’ve believed in the coming generations; believed that they will understand, one day, or learn one day… I thought of all that and said, he must have believed in me too! How beautiful and heart-warming! i
I look around this Sudanese cyber-sphere and wonder, was he wrong to believe in us so unconditionally?i I think not… a man with a vision like his must have seen and expected all this! i
I want to believe that one day, the coming Sudanese generations of our troubled peoples will celebrate his message and embrace his gift to us… i I want to believe that the simple, clear ideas such as man’s right to think and dream will become so common-sense that no one like him would die to state them; and no one like me would ever need to write these words. i I want to believe that there are a Sudanese people, in some coming future, who will celebrate his sacrifice for them as they celebrate sunrise and the simple good things in life… I want believe that, just as he believed in us.And I think I will. i*
