You know where I stand on the issue of racism and sexism but I am afraid I do not agree with many of the things said.
What Alaa expressed, what Sabeel wrote, what wad al-sheikh keeps writing, etc, are the unfortunate realities of Sudan especially the riverian north.
Removing people from the list is not going to change reality but educating them could change things. Removing them from the list may make us feel good that we are not hearing these vile expressions but do they disappear? Do they cease mucking up the destiny of Sudan?
Another issue that worries me is how can we deal with Islamofascism if we become sensitive to every word. The reason why Islamofascism flourished in Arab countries is the behaviour of the other face of fascism, which is Arab Nationalism. Whether you talk of Naserim, Baathism, etc., they all destroyed the mind of their citizens and helped provide Islamofascism with fertile land. You can see the destruction of mind in Sudan in what many write in this place. Those who are brought up during the time of books burning and jihad will fuel racism and all behaviour you may think of as sub-human but unfortunately they are a reality created by Islamofascism.
So my point is that removing people from the list will not change the reality of Sudan but educating them may do the job.
Forcing people to leave the list is what the forces of darkness are working for. They cannot tolerate free expression so they will keep bombarding us with racism, sexism, and all vile their inadequate self could come up with. So let us make sure we stay so that they can learn something.
Many on this list are not Muslims, many have doubts about Islam, others got views about the authenticity of the books that many believers consider to be the word of God, many will be pointing to the fact that what we know from modern science today contradicts what is in the Holy Books, etc. How are you (us) going to deal with all of this? Where will we draw the line?
Yes I am very sickened by the racist and sexist views expressed over the last few weeks but my conciliation is that they came from quarters not known for their humanity or sanity. So I am not in favour of creating a precedence that will stop all of us from dealing with the biggest problem facing the world today which is Islamofascism.
