I was at the meeting at Georgetown University in Washington on 31/7 when the incident that is the subject of this article happened. I think this is a continuation of the NIF campaign against Wad el-Mekki that started nearly 13 years ago. Wad el-Mekki did not give them the satisfaction of using his name and managed to extricate himself very quickly from their quagmire after they appointed him as a member in one of their fictitious bodies.
The comments were taken out of context and many of the things said by him in the few minutes he got to comment are deliberately ignored.
It is interesting to see the security using this name in the article as the writer was not at the meeting according to conference register - unless he was registered by a different name. Also it is important to give an idea about the time frame. That panel started around 15:10 (5 minutes before the published time) Washington time or 10:10pm Sudan time and finished around 17:10 or 24:10 Sudan time. Many commented in that meeting so the choice of Wad El-Mekki for the attack looks more of a pre-arranged thing that was just waiting for a chance given the speed with which this article appeared in Sudanile.
Why the writer did not report all the comments made by Wad el-Mekki and discuss them in their entirety rather than truncate two minutes into two seconds.
