Project Summary:
The purpose of this project is to enable SCTR to support the NSDDR Commission, the UN DDR Unit and local actors to contribute to the overall goal of DDR in Sudan . The SCTR intends to carry out activities on the theme of Against Weapon culture , Public Awareness within SALW .This defiantly would enhance and empowered the peace sustainability while Sudan is constructing it's road to pass conflict aftermath .
1. Project Description:
Promoting and Enhancing public awareness against weapon culture within SALW
The purpose of this project is to enable Digital Hope Organization DHO to support the NSDDR Commission, the UN DDR Unit and local actors to contribute to the overall goal of DDR in Sudan . The DHO intends to carry out activities on the theme of Reintegration of Street Boys involved in War .This defiantly would enhance and empowered Sudanese community sustainability while Sudan is constructing it's road to pass conflict aftermath .undoutly street boys involved in war represent violence hazard . Training of Street boys within DDR , capacity building , war trauma will enhance stabilities of society
1.1. Situation
Evidences and some document rapid growth of street boys . In the period of 1985-1989 about 200000 street boys were suffering the impact of 1988 famine and starvation. Thee government of |Salvation after the 1989 was totally overwhelmed with war demonstration and war mobilization . Some evidences stands as witness more than 15000 of street war had joint the south /north war as now can be described as ex combatant . Unfortunately the Sudanese ministry of social affairs has run short to surrender this phenomena . Street boys are one of violence hazards , history tells us the danger of the phenomena . In what has been called balck Monday and after Street boys are the winners of violence .The attacked warehouse , shops s, and raped banks . Sudanese street boys involved in War also could be used against CPA when illicit proliferation of Arms not addressed by North Sudan Government . political discourse has developed the most instability in the north Africa region. In the year of 1964 the military coup had interrupted the new born government , political parties developed their genetic clashes and disputes . In the year 1967 election has set up in Sudan , the National assembly was robed by 1969 coup marked the so called May Revolutions , thus the period of 1969 -1986 could be described as one of the longest military regime in the continent. . Sudanese political parties such as Umma party , Democratic Union , Islamic Movement, communist parties also have showed different kinds of oppressions, ranging from non- violent struggle and direct violence struggles . In the year 1986 the popular upheaval have overthrown the Nimiri Military and dictatorship regime. In the period of 1984 -1986 Sudan was governed by Transitional Government with shaking platforms , in 1986 election was set up, and multi party government was formed .In National Assembly was started , the South /North war moved the sands under the government. In the year of 1989 another Military coup has taken place , political parties situated in the passion. In the 2004 the Nevasha signing of Sudanese Comprehensive Peace agreement CPA started new page for democratic transformation in the history of GoS. Political parties can be described as the main actors in the democratic transformation march .
1.2. Strategy
A key aspect of creating Street Boys Involved in War Training initiative would assist in political and democracy transformation envisaged in the CPA and led by the NSDDR Commission. Following discussions with the NSDDR Commission, DHO, it has been agreed that there are clear linkages and synergies between the IDDRP and the work of DHO. DHO is able to support key elements of the NSDDR Programme to take off and take shape in different Reintegration
The objectives of the training course include
• To train 15000 Street Boys Involved in War
• To sensitize Sudanese community to wards the danger of non integrated Sudanese Street Boys in the field of ,DDR .Negotiations .
• To enhance community security through promotion of Integration of Street boys involved in War
1.3. Management Arrangements
DHO will work in close associations with SCTR and DDR to implement this program and management
