Thanks once more for raising beautiful points, and I'm pleased that we agreed, at least in principle, that we need to stop and think descriptively about 'who we really are' and not prescriptively about 'who we should be'. May I make myself clear on the two points you raised in the following quotes:

My summing up of the responses was an attempt to say that (as a solid conclusion) we can have multiple identities as we do have multiple personalities (ethnic identity, religious identity...etc). For the expression 'patriotic belongings' which you used in the above quote, let me say in concrete words that I do not have a patriotic flag to hold because I do not believe in the 'patriotism' and 'natinonalism' which were constructed under the umbrella of 'one language and one culture' to have as a result one nation singing the same ideological song. Such a unilateral kind of cultural imperliasm which is made the infrastructure upon which our fictitious 'national identity' is based should be refuted wholesale in our pluralistic country . I do believe that I've ardently embraced the way some guys dealt with the question, simply because they kept the door open with their definitional statements.

I think the kind of rhetoric that's going a round in the international politics nowadays implies that the age of the 'nation-state' is giving way to the 'Supra-national' and regional bodies (for the belief that regionalisation is a product of globalisation) such as the EU , and after some months people may not need their NATIONAL travel documents to cross boundaries in Europe. Now I think you know where I stand from the main question of whether a piece of paper could change 'who we are' . Thnx and stay well.
