Salaam Agab
It is interesting to bring the USA as an example. However, if you will recall the USA unity was achieved by blood and the gun. Democracy failed and eventually the civil war raged for few years costing the lifes of thousands. Seperatists were eventually crushed and the break away states were brought back to the union by force. Once that happened ONE culture dominated the country to this date. The US succeeded because it imposed one culture over the whole country with one language and almost one religion. True there are people from different ethnic backgrounds but they all observe the same cultural norms. Assimilation is strongly encouraged everywhere in the US it is called the melting pot where all cultures melt into the big US norm.
We have to see 50 years from now with the rise in the population of the spanish speaking people the real test for unity of the country if ever two or more cultures can coexist together in peace. Canada is a good example where two cultures are not co-existing well. Time and time again and again the French Canadians are calling for seperation from the english side to be able better protect their culture, and language. The good thing it is not done by the gun as in the US but rather through normal democratic channels. Belgium is also another example.
We are unlikely willing to go through the high human cost price to bring unity to the country. The dominance of ONE culture (Arabic/Islamic) will likely take over given any potential unity (should it ever happen) and then we are back to square one where minorities in Sudan will eventually feel that their language, culture, beliefs are threatended by the arabic/islamic culture since it is the culture of the majority. Perhaps if you were to imply that we learn the system of governance of the US then your point is certainly well valid.
The truth of the matter we have never been a one country and unity never existed before. We have been following this mirage that we are one country because the British decided to sum a bunch of different groups ino one piece of land and then leave after telling us that we are one country. But it is time now that we realize the drastic differences, break up the country and live in small mini-sudans in peace
Thank you
