Thanks Kostawi Please take note of the fact that this Mr. Rangel, with his immpecable character, and achievements, has served as US Congressman for 33 years, since 1971! This alone tells you how popular he is, for he gets elected every time he runs for office. I am sure that he will keep winning as long as he runs for Congress, becuase he is not just a man of words. He is also a man of deeds, as his stance in fornt of the Sudan Embassy indicates. One of the clear repercussions of the momentum building against the Khartoum government -in Washington and around the globe- and its ill-fated policies in Darfur, is the strong statement by President George Bush, which he issued "in person" not in a press relesse. This president cannot ignore any cause in which men like Congressman Rangel, are invloved. In fact, the Darfur issue may become an US election issue, becuase the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC)>>> is complaining that Bush has always been ignoring Africa, and African Americans. The CBC's intensive activity this time comes within this context. Many say that the neglect of African issues, including that of Darfur, underpins a racial prejudice, on the part of Bush, his adminstration, and his folk.
If Bush sences that this may affect his electability among African Americans -which is already in jeapordy- he will indeed move to do something -so as to score points among African Americans. This may explain why the Darfur issue could become a US election issue, soon, if the government of Sudan continues to lie about its terrible policies against its own people in Darfur
