Dear Kamal
Thank you for the series of interesting questions that you have put forward. But before we delve into addressing these issue we need to assert to what Degna have written and I saluted. That is the right of self determination and that each group in the greater Sudan have the right to seek self determination and look exclusively after its economic, social and political ineterests. We should not get mad or sad or start calling any group with racism etc etc should for example people of eastern Sudan decide to separate and form their own country. We have simply FAILED since 1956 in making a great good united Sudan and we are going to fail again and again whether we are ruled be secular system or religious one. So what is a potential solution to stop this continuous bloodshed that never stop or when it stops in the south starts in the west and then who knows where, Allah yastur.
Now which parts of Sudan stand to make any potential country and what form of rule should it follow. A very deep and difficult question to answer on behalf of the millions who are involved. A hypothetical scenario, consider the separation of central and northern sudan into one country. From Kosti all the way to Halfa, quite a large sizable piece of land that is more managable than the current humbo jumbo. The population tends to be much more homogenous , just like if you were to take southern sudan alone where the population is ethnically and religious homogenous. In the case of central and north sudan religion will certainly play a significant role in their day to day life and eventually in their politics as well. What form of government is what the people decide and not certainly not me sitting behind a keyboard deciding for the people. I can only advocate to what I see right and serves my best political interests and call people to adopt that. Here comes a great human value, freedom of expression for all certainly is something we shoudl all adhere to and settling our differences in a civilized manner and respect for the rule of law.
I understand that you are a person who calls for unity and you are well respected and encouraged to advocate for this. But you have to notice there is no country in this earth that have achieved unity without bloodshed and we are way too much into this and yet we have not achieved it yet. The USA is a great example where democracy failed to achieve unity and it was decided by force and the rule of the gun (remember the civil war). Countries that have achived untiy by democratic means like Canada, Belgium are NON-happy ever after and calls of separation are always present in their daily politics. I will have to stop here to do some personal things and will come back in few hours to write more. Hope this highlights what I usually call for and give some insights to the questions that you have raised
