Job Description
JOB PURPOSE:
To manage the nutrition teams working in nine localities within the Seleia/Kolbus area. Support the nutrition development of a local counterpart. To work in close collaboration with the Community mobilisers to plan and implement the programme and to ensure that all the aspects of the programme are integrated.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Day to day guidance of Nutrition Programme programmes including staff, supplies etc
Ensure CTC/nutrition guidelines are in place and are adhered to
Design and implement a training/capacity building programme for a counterpart;
Provide support and technical advise to the Nutrition teams
Liaise and coordinate with the government, international agencies and UN bodies within West Darfur as necessary;
Facilitate the nutrition staff in their training and work;
Evaluate and respond to the needs of the nutrition teams in Seleia/Kolbus
To facilitate regular coordination meetings within the Concern Community Health and Nutrition teams both locally and between the three programme areas;
To represent Concern at relevant meetings;
Monitor and update the nutrition database
Compile the monthly reports/statistics for the nutrition programme
Compile the bi-monthly report for the Area Coordinator;Prepare/update the three month plan for the programme;
Prepare and conduct nutrition surveys in Seleia according to the survey schedule in collaboration with MoH and UNICEF;
To keep Valid International (CTC Consultants) updated with the plans and progress of the programme;
To assist in the mainstreaming of HIV/AIDS, gender, equality and protection into the programme
Participate in programme implementation, allowing for flexibility and alterations.
Participate in meetings with stakeholders, especially with local leaders and any other coordinating bodies.
Participate in any training deemed necessary to fulfil your role.
Liaise with other team members and Concern staff to deliver a high quality of service.
Undertake other related duties as may be assigned by the Area Coordinator /Emergency Coordinator/Country Director
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential:
third level qualification in a nutrition related field
two years relevant overseas experience in emergency/insecure field
two years experience in an emergency nutrition programme
proven track record in national staff capacity building/training and management
Desirable:
Previous work experience in the Asia region.
Familiarity with using word processing, powerpoint and excel packages
technical qualifications in food security
knowledge of the CTC (Community Based Therapeutic Care) approach to
experience of work in Sudan / horn of Africa region
experience of CTC programme implementation
experience of working in a refugee/IDP camp setting
Familiarity with IT equipment and security issues. Familiarity with humanitarian law and principles of humanitarian action (international code of conduct and humanitarian charter)
Familiarity with Sphere guidelines and people in aid, code of best practice.
