bint_alahfad I wish you good luck after graduation. As for me I worked as a teaching assistant for one year after graduation and then I worked one year in field then I went to graduate school and got a master's after that I changed gear to computer world since I found myself good in programming like many of sudanese engineers here. But I hadn't had many dreams I remember, actually because of my field of study, when you study engineering you tend to be more realistic and practical not a dreamer. Any how I think what you do after graduation depends on the place where you live and the chances for work. If you find a decent job I think you go for it and get experience and while doing that you can continue graduate studies you will gain more.
If you like the academic environment more and like to teach then I think the graduate school well suites you. However I think a master's degree will be good for your career for sure just make sure you choosse a good program that gives real skills not just text book reading abilities.
From my experience I wish I started some business of my own at that time, since I'm one of the people who believe the best way for living is to to be an enterpreneur and not an employee. Back in sudan it's different since people have respect more for phd holders.
In the US it's totally different. People start work from an early age like 21 or 22 right after they finish college and by 30,31 they become magnagers and some lucky ones become wealthy from that age and they hire those phd holders ironically, so that just raised the question into my head about the aim of education, I think the aim of that is to give you the skills and the edge necessary to be successful in this life and also to be able to change the environment around you in a good optimized way
I'm more of practical and i'm still learning how to do business in an efficient way. Just an advice: always try to think of the imlications of what you'll be doing now on your life after say 10 years ahead and also try to think out of the box, try to be creative with your ideas and dreams, work hard for it untill you find yourself very skillful in what you do and you'll be all right
