The keynote speaker at the Lynch School's 50th anniversary celebration, Sara Lawrence-Lightfoot is Emily Hargroves Fisher Professor of Education at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education and chair of the board of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Her work focuses on the relationships between culture and learning styles and she has pioneered "portraiture," an approach to social science methodology that bridges the realms of aesthetics and empiricism. Lawrence-Lightfoot has written seven books, including Respect, I've Known Rivers: Lives of Loss and Liberation, and The Art and Science of Portraiture.
