Dear Muna. I thought there is a difference, and there is a disgruntled group
(within the junta) ready to turn the Peace Agreement into shambles.0
For me both of them are the same and Ali Osman is not a man of peace but had to sign the peace, and this is only the difference between them.
Why had he to sign ? well there are many different reasons, difinitely love for peace is not among them. My proof to that is, while they are signing peace with the south, with the most powerful wing in this condition, he and his government still genociding people in the west of Sudan. while he was negotiating the final stages of the protocol, he and his government were arresting people in Khartoum for defending human rights peacefully and till this moment they have not stopped their violations to sudanese peoples rights.
Because Ali Osman and his followers and other Kaizan insisted to alienate others from taking part in ruling Sudan, and believe it my dear whether we like it or not, whether we call these leaders dianasaurs or not, they were the choice of Sudanese people and the legitimate government in Sudan till the coup of 1989. Because Ali Osman as portrayed by some in this board as a man for peace, has failed to address all causes of conflicts in the whole of Sudan and bring it to the table of negotiation that COULD have brought peace to the rest of Sudan,
BY THE WAY ,WHO ARE THE KAIZANS in your definition/ WHAT THE WORD KAUZ REFERS TO?
Does it refer only to those who are NIFers, in terms of organisation? whether they are taking official part in ruling sudan or not? does it refer to NIFers who have left the government? does it include the non-NIFers but other category of cheap people like Security agents and those who eat from the ruling junta's table? and what is the position of Elturabi, the leader of the NIF before its division and who has become one of the alliances with the SPLA/SPLM when we talk about kizan? is Ali Osman a kauze or not?
If he still insists on ruling despite the rejection of the majority of Sudanese, would that make him different from those who rejects the peace withing his circile?
I am not discussing here the peace agreement, I am discussing here the real postition of Ali Osman and whether or not he is a man for peace.
I think answering the above questions should lead us to say whether or not Ali Osman Taha is a man of peace.
In the end, I would mention here we all for peace, but we have to learn from experiences when we deliver our opinions on it and how we support it and also how we should support peace as an ideal goal but with very opened eyes and not emotions. Ali Osman has been given a golden opportunity to try to wash his hands from the blood shed of Sudanese people by first apologising and admitting what they did to sudanese people, and the rest to a long list of demands to peace will come later
I will be extremely busy this week, I will still try to come breifly to this issue in this post or in another one, and I hope to hear back from you Shanteer and all others.
