* هناك من يتساءل عن أسباب عدم لقاء بوش لسلفاكير عند زيارته لواشنطون ولقاءاته المتعددة من ربيكا بينما الأول هو رئيس الحركة والنائب الأول لرئيس الجمهورية، وبينما الثانية مجرد وزيرة إقليمية وزيارتها ذات طابع اجتماعي وزيارة سلفا رسمية! وهذه التساؤلات ترجح أن ربيكا مرشحة للزعامة بدلاً عن سلفا وأن خطها الانفصالي هو الأنسب للبيت الأبيض خاصة أنها دشنت هذا الخط علناً في واشنطون!
ولعل ما يعزز هذا التوافق أن ربيكا تطالب أمريكا بالتعامل مباشرة مع الجنوب الى درجة تأسيس علاقات دبلوماسية بينما رفض سلفا رفع العقوبات الأمريكية، عن الجنوب دون سائر السودان إبان زيارته لأمريكا! وهذا ما صرح به لام أكول وزير الخارجية في أكثر من مناسبة.
Mohammed al-Hassan Ahmed is at it again. He is a man blinded by hatred of the South and those who defend the interest of the South. Even if logic does not support his conclusions, he is intentionally ready to reach them, notwithstanding. The fact that President Bush met with Madam Rebbeca and did not meet with Vice President Salva Kiir Mayardit during his last visit to USA, makes Rebbecca a future leader of the SPLM. In Mr. Mohammed al-Hassan's logic any foreign visitor Bush meets is somebody destined to lead in his/her country no matter how low or how high is that person in political heirarchy of his/her country.
Mohammed al-Hassan Ahmed admits in his article that Rebbecca Garang went to Washington on a private visit, on the invitation of the US First Lady Laura Bush. How could Bush then not meet with Rebecca when she was present in his house, whether that was in the Crawford Ranch or in the White House? Vice-President Salva went to the USA last year as an official visitor. According to the diplomatic protocol he had to meet the USA Vice-President, his counterpart, and not with Preident Bush. Does that call for the conclusion that Madam Garang is being prepared for the leadership of the SPLM?
I would have wished Mohammed al-Hassan Ahmed had read the speeches of Madam Garang in the http://Gurtong.net website, which published all her speeches during her visit. In those speeches, there is no attack on anybody, except Mohammed al-Hassan's party, the NIF/NCP. This in itself was not an attack but criticism on the slow pace of the implementation of CPAon on which all sesible Sudanese agree. There was no mention in her speeches of Lam Akol by name. There was the talk about the non-representation of the South in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The slow implenetation of the CPA is a fact known to all Sudanese, and Vice-President Salva had publicly come out to complain about it, before even Madam Rebecca could step foot in Whasington.
However Mohammed al-Hassan Ahmed like his bosses in the NIF/NCP and the biased Khartoum press did not read those speeches, but, nevertheless, went on to attack Madam Garang. It is the usual Khartoum press anti-South policy since the 1940s of the last century.
The other uninformed accusation Mohammed al-Hassan Ahmed leveled against Madam Garang is the allegation that Madam Garang called on America for diplomatic ties with the South. What is wrong with that? It is a known fact that the NIF/NCP theoocratic governemnt of Khartounm had been under American sanctions since 1997. These sanctios were the result of the active NIF/NCP governemnt aiding of international terrorism. Mohammed al-Hassan Ahmed knows about this fact but if it serves the purposes of his masters, he must attack the leadership of the SPLM for not asking America for lifting of sanctions on the Sudan. Why should SPLM ask for the lifting of sanctions on Mohammed al-Hassan's bosses when they continue to slaughter Darfurians and Easterners? Further, why should SPLM be responsible for the clean-up of the dirt intentionally created by the NIF/NCP governemnt? Whey should the SPLM be responisble for policies pre-CPA, when the NIF/NCP has failed to change its behavior but is refusing to implement in good faith CPA, which Madam Rebbeca detailed in one of her speeches.
