A new ruling by the European Court of Justice could give NHS patients the right to seek treatment in European hospitals and charge the cost of the treatment to the department of health - once back home. This gives fresh hope for around one million patients on NHS waiting lists - and for those 44,000 people who face delays for treatment of one year or more. The judgement means British patients could now travel to countries such as Germany and France - where there are virtually no waiting lists - for operations including hip replacements and bowel surgery. 'The ruling looks like good news for NHS patients,' says David Anderson QC, a legal expert in European law. 'It opens up the possibility of going abroad to obtain medical treatment funded by the department of health - if there are unacceptably long waiting lists in Britain.' Patients who are in pain, or whose condition is deteriorating due to NHS waiting lists should be able to argue that they require quick medical attention - and that treatment abroad is necessary. However, although the judgement is immediately effective, it is possible the first patients to seek free treatment abroad will be brought to court to clarify the new ruling - known as test cases. Although the department of health would not be obliged to fund treatment if costs exceed NHS fees, it could be expected to foot the bill if #####alent to NHS costs, say legal experts. And, what counts as unacceptable waiting times will depend on the nature of the illness. A heart bypass might be considered more urgent than a cataract operation for example. The judgement follows a case brought by two Dutch patients who were refused state funding for treatment abroad. At present, patients in Britain can apply for non-emergency state-funded treatment abroad with written consent from their GP using the E112 form available from their local health authority. Although the new ruling gives greater choice for patients at the mercy of long NHS waiting lists, health policy experts warn that sending patients abroad is not ideal. 'Relatively few people will want to travel long distances when they are suffering from severe pain,' says professor Vivienne Nathanson, head of science and health policy at the British Medical Association. 'Although it doesn't get to the root of the problem, getting help from other countries could offer a short-term solution while the NHS focuses on cutting waiting lists and employing more staff.' A spokesman for the department of health said: 'The judgement relates to the Netherlands health care systems and we are considering whether there are any implications for the NHS.' Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-60822/NHS-soo...0OzMcF5Hp[/B][/QUOTE] اوردت لنكات يا السنوسي عشان تآمن انو النظام الصحي الذي تتحدث عنه ليس كاملا في اللنكات اعلاه (وهي قديمة وحديثة ومنها اعداد صحف اليوم) عشان تعرف انو النظام الصحي كان وما زال في تدهور في العديد من المجالات وهذا علي عكس ما اوردت انت.. اضف الي ذلك ان المقال اعلاه في صحف اليوم يتحدث انو الناس بتموت في بريطانيا من تاخر العمليات والانتظار الكثير عشان كده لجاوا للمحكمة الاوربية التي اقرت انه الناس البتاخروا لازم يسفروهم للعلاج في الخارج. فماذا يعني هذا بالله عليك؟؟؟ الا يعني تدهور واضح في النظام الصحي بالداخل مما ادي الي البحث عن حلول في الخارج؟؟؟ طيب انتظر...انا حاجيك بانتقادات اخري..عشان تعرف انو انتقاداتي انا ولا شيئ بجانب انتقادات الصحف الاخري...
