Civil Society Leadership Awards for Master Students in Netherlands, 2014
Maastricht University is offering Civil Society Leadership Awards (CSLA) for one year master prgramme at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Up to 5 fully funded awards will be awarded for the students of Azerbaijan Belarus, Cambodia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Laos, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Criteria for selection will include academic merit and potential for contributing to the development of civil society in the countries listed. The application deadline is 1st March 2014.
Study Subject (s): Awards are awarded at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in one of the following programmes: Globalisation and Development Studies, European Studies, European Public Affairs and European Studies on Science, Society and Technology at Maastricht University. Course Level: Awards are available for pursuing master degree level at Maastricht University. Eligibility: The programme aims to support individuals who demonstrate both academic and professional excellence and have potential to become civil society leaders in their home communities. The students of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Cambodia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Laos, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan can apply for the awards.
Scholarship Open for International Students: Students of Azerbaijan Belarus, Cambodia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Laos, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan can apply for these fully funded awards.
Scholarship Description: The programme aims to support individuals who demonstrate both academic and professional excellence and have potential to become civil society leaders in their home communities. The Civil Society Leadership Awards (CSLA) provides fully funded 1-year master’s level scholarships at a network of universities across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and North America. Maastricht University offers 5 awards for eligible students at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

What does it cover? CSLA is a fully funded award for master’s level study. Successful applicants will receive the following support: -Tuition and mandatory university fees -Monthly stipend for room, board, and other living expenses -Programme-related travel -Accident and sickness insurance during the programme -Funds for educational materials and professional development -All costs associated with an annual student conference -Possible internship support -Pre-university writing programme in July or August that prepares finalist for the rigors of graduate level academic study
Selection Criteria: Criteria for selection will include academic merit and potential for contributing to the development of civil society in the countries listed. Those candidates shortlisted for admission may be interviewed online or in person by a selection committee and may be asked to provide additional essays regarding their career goals.
Notification: Applicants will be notified of the following: a) admitted to the university with CSLA funding; b) admitted to the university without CSLA funding; c) not admitted to the university and therefore not eligible for CSLA funding.
How to Apply: To be considered for the scholarship, applicants should apply for admission to one of the programmes listed above by 1 March 2014. After submitting a graduate application to Maastricht University by 1 March 2014, applicants should register with CSLA directly.
Scholarship Application Deadline: The application deadline is 1st March 2014.
