A Charge of liabilities for being infidel (Arabic Kafir), atheism, apostasy, treason or collaboration with the World Zionists and Crusaders are the weapons used by the elements of the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) regime led by the International Criminal Court (ICC) indictee, Marshal Omer Hassan Ahmed al-Bashir in Sudan, to deter their political opponents and subject them to trial in the Inquisition courts which are managed by the security services. This is meant to make a fool of the Sudanese public and the world that their government is a victim of conspiracy! The credibility of those Courts has been called into question. Courts characterised by judicial corruption, constitutional and human rights violations in contravention of every norm of human rights, decency and morality. The Greatest Injustice that a Court System Can ever have in living memory. The NCP judicial system is run through sham legal proceedings in Khartoum’s kangaroo Courts. The outcome of trials by these kangaroo courts is essentially determined in advance, for the purpose of ensuring conviction. Today Sudan’s Apostasy Courts are akin to the Medieval Inquisition courts of the Middle Ages (Dark Ages) in Europe. On the other hand and to make it even worse, The Khartoum regime’s Clerics, are always prepared to fabricate ready-made fatwas of atonement (Arabic Takfir) to implicate defendants in order to Order to reach criminal liabilities against adversaries and opponents of the NCP government.
Based on the foregoing and the dire situation of the ‘inquisition’ courts system administered by the National Congress Party (NCP) Security apparatus in Sudan against opponents, the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) has declared its rejection of the political trial of the thinker and activist Dr. Omar al-Garrrai to take place on Saturday the 29th May 2011, as there would be no guarantee for a fair trial under the National Congress Party (NCP) totalitarian state which is dominated by the brutal ruthless Political Security Network of the so called National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) that notorious organisation responsible for committing the heinous crimes and atrocities against the people of Sudan in Darfur. Dr. al-Garrrai is likely to be handed over a readymade sentence delivered by the same judge and jury, as fate a compli. The NCP institutions are lacking credibility and transparency and not trusted to conduct fair trials for those who entertain views contrasting to theirs. The same courts of the NCP regime previously refused to hand over officials such as the current governor of South Kordofan Ahmed Haroun and the Janjaweed commander Ali Abdelrahman Kushayb who have been implicated in the crimes committed in Darfur to the International Criminal Court (ICC) which indicted them. The elements in the NCP regime government are renowned for their callousness and illegal acts that included rigging the general elections in April 2010 to keep themselves in their positions, importantly to remain in power. Their President General Omer Hassan Ahmed al-Bashir has been indicted by the ICC for War Crimes, Crimes against Humanity and Genocide in Darfur but he declined to comply with the international justice and persists in being fugitive. The expected trial of Dr. Omer al-Garrrai is a reminder of that of the Sudanese progressive Islamic theologian, thinker and the Republican Brotherhood political party leader Ustaz Mahmoud Mohammed Taha who was executed for his views by the regime of Sudanese President Gaafar Mohammed Nimeiri. He was Seventy Five years old when publicly hanged at the notorious Kober prison in Khartoum North, Sudan on January 18th 1985.
Freedom loving humanitarian individual do call on the Human Rights Organisations and the International Community to put pressure on the National Congress Party (NCP) Government in Sudan to refrain from subjecting Dr. Omer al-Garrrai to this sham trial in its Inquisition Courts.
Frederick Douglass (1817-1895) has been quoted to have said “The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppose.”
