Burhan .. Ala'a
can you talk a little more about IVR in Sudan? are there any implementations? where and what do they do with it.. it's interesting to know about these advances
Maryam.. speaking about processes.. i believe this is one of the huge gaps in the whole IT profession back home. i don't think we lack the technical knowledge.. i've seen college students produce very sophisticated projects that showcase a very good knowledge of programming and other computer sciences, but i'm still to find someone knowledgable talking about processes and how technology can be used to streamline them.
One of the turning points in the history of computing was the failure of information systems to deliver what sales and marketing people were promising. by some statistics.. 4 out of every 5 IT projects fail in america! thats 80% failure rate. then came a period where markets were completely saturated with the latest and greatest hardware. at that point, information systems still didn't realize the savings in time, resources or budget as promised.. then everybody started to realize that technology in itself is not the aim.. but an enabler of realizing better business results. from there came the concept of customer- centric solutions.. a model where technology is implemented not just for the sake of having sophisticated technology, but to solve specific business problems, and support specific business models that revolve around the customer. at that point, a clear understanding of the underlying business processes became immanent, and a whole new market started to grow around the concepts of business process reengineering and streamlining. (the buzz words of that time were CRM, ERP, BPR and stuff like that)a
al7adeeth zo shigoun lakin guess what.. i have to go wash my dishes too

tabee3 tyab walla gaddir zorofak.. where are you gonna keep your stock? how are you gonna ship to customers, and how do you plan to collect your money? ta3rif.. nas Dell don't keep an inventory?? al deal alwahmya bita3at al lap tops the other day.. i got one, but after i completed the purchase, i realized that the shipping date was two weeks from the purchase date.. u know what that means? it means they will order the parts- tab3an min china walla taiwan- after they got my $$, assemble the machine, and ship it to me. by that time the $$ they got from me and the thousands of cutomers who purchased laptops that day, has already doubled or tripled laanahoum "galabo baiha" fi alsoug! the morale of the story is.. again.. technology is only one piece of the puzzle, but not everything. to have a successfull e business you gotta look at the bigger picture
let me know what happens with alta7nia though.. that's more interesting than tyab
shabab.. what i said above is not necessarily very accurate.. but is fine as far as a general discussion is concerned
it will be easier if we all just reply to the last post at the bottom.. that way we won't miss anything
