Another excellent topic today… Thanks Alaa for the valuable information in your studies
I’ll start with some quick thoughts in the hope that others will join this discussion
A quite popular payment method- that wasn’t mentioned in the study- is online payments.
http://paypal.com for example allows buyers and sellers to transfer funds without having to disclose sensitive financial information like credit card numbers. But you have to have a mechanism to transfer money from a bank account to your paypal account.. which brings another point.. your bank needs to have the infrastructure- hardware and software- that facilitates that kind of transfer in a secure environment… keyword here is infrastructure
I like the argument about consolidating products in a central shopping area.. however, I will have to disagree with the conclusion that e commerce is the only remedy for the current situation in Sudan simply because it is not.. the reason? again infrastructure or the lack of it, and I add… the public’s awareness
The issues Mariam proposes for discussion( customers, information security, pricing ..) are important both from a marketing and technical perspectives, however, there are more fundamental issues that need to be resolved before we get to that.. or at least that’s what I think. One could come up with an attractive design, and deploy the latest and greatest technology on an ecommerce web site, but how good is that if your target market is a very slim percentage of the total population?Would it be feasible? g
I’ll leave it at that for now.. but will certainly come back to the topic
excellent work.. hopefully a fruitful discussion
