We the undersigned organizational representatives and free individuals declare that we support the mass movement for freedom and liberty in the Arab countries. We stand in awe of the resolve, courage, dignity and sacrifices of the unarmed peaceful freedom fighters all across the Middle East. The wave of freedom that started in Tunisia may have now become an unstoppable tsunami.
We are alarmed at the massacres of hundreds of peaceful Libyan freedom fighters by Libyan security services and foreign mercenaries hired by Qaddafi and his regime. We are greatly concerned that the sons and henchmen of the dictator have threatened more massacres and are massing mercenaries to attack the unarmed protestors with tanks and other heavy weapons of war.
We are disappointed at the timid response of the US and other western governments in condemning the massacres in Libya, Bahrain and other countries. We demand that the western governments issue an un#####ocal declaration of support for the Libyans and other Arab peoples.
We condemn the continued killings in Yemen and the brutal suppression of unarmed protests in Palestine and Algeria. We deplore the killings of unarmed freedom fighters in Bahrain and congratulate the people of Bahrain for their steadfastness. We support the struggle for reform in Morocco, Jordan, Syria and other countries in the region including Iran.
We feel fortunate that we have had the opportunity to witness the dignity of human beings when the Arab masses stood up against the most brutal and corrupt tyrants thus demonstrating that Arabs and Muslims are no different than other people. All people have the inherent instinct and inherent right to live free- free of fear, oppression, occupation and exploitation.
We strongly urge the multinational oil companies not to support Qaddafi and other dictators in the name of stability.
Arab culture has always valued individual freedom, contrary to what the Islamophobes propagandize. Monarchy took roots in the Arab heartland much later than most parts of the world. The Shias and Sunnis of Bahrain and the Muslims as well as Christians of Egypt stood shoulder to shoulder in their peaceful struggle and broke the stereotypes that Arabs can never unite and that granting freedom and liberties to Arab societies will lead to anarchy.
The sign that a freedom fighter held in Cairo’s Tahrir square supporting the demonstrations in Madison, Wisconsin underlines the fact that all humans empathize with the desire to be free – free to dream and free to work to realize those dreams.
The Arab freedom tsunami has not only set millions of people free of fear and dictators but also of demonization and stereotyping.
The people who were once the teachers and leaders of the world in sciences and civilization have once more taken the role of leaders and teachers- teaching us all values of freedom, liberty, courage and human dignity.
Today we are all Arabs and will remain so till all the Middle East will become free.
