    وأسمحوا لي أن أُعيد ما نشره الصديق الهادى هباني من قبل ... المقالين اللذين كتبهما مكاوى
    بإعتبارهما ضمن تفاصيل المنافسة من ضمن مقالات كثيرة :

    الأول عن قريتنا (المناصير) ... وهذا مقال حقيقي ١٠٠٪
    الثاني مقال تخيُلي في مدينة بحرى حيث درس عاماً دراسياً واحداً

    It seems almost impossible to come across a place so rural that one couldn’t even believe people used to live there? That was the impression I got when my father and I visited the village he was raised in as a child, Almanaseer, Sudan in northeast Africa. The moment we stepped foot there it was as if every living soul in the village disappeared into thin air. There was no movement or noise, nothing; all I heard was dead silence. I asked my father what happened to his home, and he told me that most people migrated to the cities. This was because the government began to neglect agriculture and almost all other fields in the economy, which, in effect, hurt the agriculture-based village and forced many of the farmers to move to the cities to find employment and a better life.

    Before our visit to the village, my father shared stories of his amazing childhood. He said that the whole place was blanketed with green; everywhere one looked one would see grass and trees of an electrifying green. The farms were bounteous, and even people that barely had money were living well because of the surplus of food. There was no problem with water because the village was located on a land similar to a peninsula. My father told me that everyone knew everyone, and, although many people were not related by blood, the village was a gigantic family. When I visited, I saw nothing but dry land and empty houses.

    After we left that day, I was disappointed about the village because it fell so short of my expectations. However, that day I was shocked again.

    My father told me that although his home was reduced to nothing but some empty houses and dry land, many doctors, engineers, teachers and college professors came out of the tiny village. The successful individuals that came out of the village lived through rough times back then; such as times when they had to study using a gas lamp during the night because electricity was not introduced to the area until 1986. Once I heard that, I contemplated on the obstacles some face. Even though one may not have the best life, they have the ability to succeed and move mountains if they have the desire to do so.

    Although I have not lived in this village nor have I personally experienced these hardships, I have come to respect the achievements of my parents and extended family and I’ve been inspired to succeed in attaining my educational goals and my entire life. This became one of my biggest accomplishments because through understanding the experiences and accomplishments of these amazing people, I have been able to do great things thus far in my life as well. This experience has always been one of the few influences that have pushed me to do the best I can in any endeavor. This memory of a simple visit has been the driving force that has inspired me to shoot for the stars.

    An Epiphany from Lunch Money
    It was an ordinary Monday morning in Sudan, and as usual, I woke up late. Rushing out of the house to my bus, I remembered I forgot my lunch money from my mom. I ran back home even faster, to find my mom waiting outside with the money in her hand. I snatched it and sprinted back. I reached the bus stop right on time and, unbeknownst to me, was on my way to a life changing experience

    Upon my arrival, an old man in a dirty, ripped-up julbab with a shoe on one foot and a sandal on the other confronted me. The old man approached me and asked for spare change. At first, I thought I was getting scammed because, living in Denver practically my whole life, this was a new experience. I reflected for a moment; was my effort this morning for my lunch money or for his? Somehow, my mind was able to overcome my grumbling stomach and force my hand to reach into my pocket. At first I was thinking to myself, even though I know I did the right thing, was it worth being hungry for the whole day. After all, what carries a human being is not his legs but rather his stomach. While I may have doubted myself, I looked at the old man and saw an enormous gleam in his eyes, an unbelievable happiness, all over a small amount of money. Witnessing that, I knew I acted correctly and I actually felt content that I was able to help one unfortunate individual

    During lunch, instead of enjoying my time, I sat in solitude and thought about people like the old man. It is unfair that there are so many of these people wandering the streets both during the day and night with no place to go. It is unfair that these people and their kids have had to adapt to rough changes just because there is no one lending them a helping hand. Although I come from a family with many financial hardships myself, compared to the old man and others like him, I am very fortunate; something I would have never realized if not for this experience. I realized that Sudan’s corrupt government was not doing anything to help these individuals. So it is up to the next generation to fix these social issues that plague societies. If I want to help these individuals, I have to help myself first by succeeding in school and maximizing my future. A goal without a plan is simply a wish. So in order to fulfill my plan I am committed to doing the best I can in school because as Benjamin Franklin once said, “An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.” By succeeding in my academics, I realize I will be able to give back and help people living in this cruel reality.

    الخواجات يا طرواة ما بيدوا قروشهم بأخوى وأخوك كما تعلم ....!
    فلقد فاجأني مكاوى بهذين المقالين ولم يكُن لي فيهما أى دخل إلا بعد الإطلاع عليهما
    فماذا تقولون في الأجيال القادمة؟ ... أجيالاً لا علاقة لها بواقع بلادنا ولكن بحديثنا إستطاعوا
    أن يتفاعلوا معنا بطريقتهم .... فكيف سنستغل هذا التفاعل لنُحوله لفعل إيجابي؟

    الغريب أن مكاوى قد كتب هذين المقالين قبل أكثر من عام .. عمره كان (١٥ سنة وشوية) ..قال لي عندما أقرأهما الآن
    أشعر بأن أفكارى فيهما ضعيفة جداً ....
    إذن هنالك جيلاً يحتاج لقراءة مختلفة ... فهل نحن مستعدون لذلك؟
