Salamat Ya Ustaz Khawad , Bashmuhandisa Smarti and other readers. Eid Saeed to every body. What is happening in the electronic book world are just the beginnings. None of what is available now is ideal. The debate about the Kindle, the nook, and I pad will extend further since other companies are entering the market with new devices. My friend, Dr Adam Fadlalla, a computer programming professor at Cleveland State University who follows this market carefully, once bought the I pad, after he listened to Steve Job’s talk. Soon he returned it back, because it didn’t satisfy his needs besides being expensive. I was able to read Arabic books on the conventional computer without difficulty; however, I failed to read them from the I pad, even after I downloaded the PDF app. For some reason, Apple’s Safari is somewhat limited compared to say internet explorer. May be Smarti will help here. Until Apple allows USB ports and allow the users to download other materials on their I pad, it will be limited. But somebody like Smarti might argue against that. Some time ago, I read an article by Professor Abdullahi Ali Ibrahim about the Limitations Amazon.com made for users of the Kindle in countries like Sudan. Aim sure, a time will come where the Arabic Electronic book industry will gather momentum and become available for electronic book readers. Until then, I favor the size of the Kindle and the Nook over the I pad, the natural Ink of the kindle over the nook (against eye fatigue), the audio library of the kindle, but the ability to read at night of the Nook. Ya Smarti you can also down load the Nook reader in any computer and have access to all B&N electronic book store and read from your computer, lab top, I pad, or any smart phone device.
