Dear, Sir
Please find attached a story on the decision of Sudanese Human rights activist Dr Bushra Gamar (47 years old) not takes food as from today Monday 26th September, 2011 until Sudanese authorities either set him free or try him before a court of law.
Bushra Gamar, is an X- Ray technician who ######### a civil society organizations was detained in Om Durman in 25th June 2011. Although a judge decided to throw away his detention order, “against the wishes of the state security” and a government attorney set him free accordingly, the national security agents re-arrested him on the spot, without any explanation.
Dr. Bushra Gamar who belongs to South Kordofan (Nuba ethnicity) asserts that he had nothing to do with fighting there between government forces and SPLA (Nuba Mountains) rebels since June 2011. The family and friends of Bushra are very much concerned that his decision to stop taking food will affect his health seriously as he is known to suffer from serious chronic diseases. They chided the Sudanese authorities for not allowing neither his family nor his lawyers to meet him at his detention in Khartoum Bahri in a separate section in Kobar prison belongs to national security services and inaccessible to all human rights organizations. Importantly, there is another detainee with Bushra called Dahia Masar also decided to go on hunger strike.
Please note that we, the family friends and colleagues of Dr Bushra Gamar , hope to enlist your support in launching an international campaign to set him free or put him to trial
