Nigeria's 700 soldiers depart for Sudan on peace-keeping mission
More than 700 officers and men of the Nigerian Army have been airlifted over the weekend to participate in the African Union peacekeeping mission in Sudan, the official News Agency of Nigeria reported on Sunday.
Addressing the soldiers before departure, General Officer Commanding Maj. Gen. Samuel Atawodi charged them to be "good ambassadors" of the country.
Atawodi stressed the need for them to maintain the high standard of professionalism which the Nigerian army was known for in previous peace-keeping missions.
He urged them to do the nation proud while in Sudan and wished them a successful peacekeeping mission.
