You have raised an important question, I am sure there will be many different answers to this question. We all answer your question from our own experience, and perspective. I still remember that most of the marriages in my matriarchal family in the first half of 1960s,were among their tribe. The family has moved away from that as a result of modernization. We are in the era of globalization now, thousands of Sudanese are living in Diaspora now. They became citizens, or dual citizens of European,American, Australian nations. Most of Sudanese are adjusting well to their new countries. They are trying to blend between the positive traditions they have from home, and the positive values they learned in their new societies. In such situation, it would become obvious that Sudanese would interact with non- Sudanese, many love relationships would take place between Sudanese and non- Sudanese. The most important thing that in such relationship, the two parties should understand each other sub cultures, respect each other, and share similar values or goals. I see the success of many marriages between Sudanese and non Sudanese, while I also see the failure of several marriages between Sudanese. In the nutshell, no one can generalize. I have two sons, Ghassan (10), and Marwan (8 years), they both know that they can marry Sudanese, Sudanese American, or non Sudanese American in the future. Relationship which would be based on love, shared values, and respect is more important than ethnicity, and old traditions
