Dear Wadgasim,
I appreciate your effort, I think what you wrote is the dream of many Sudanese, but I don't think you are far a way from Mashacos protocol, I also want to highlight on one things
It is not easy to achieve what you propose in your post as main points to build a permanent and fair peace, as a dream this ideal, but in realty from my immediate follow up to the peace negotiation this impossible, and it is as simple as that; if the Ingaz regime is willing to leave the power, then there is no reason for Mashacos and Nagoro. But the realty is that the Ingaz regime is not willing even to share the power leave alone leaving the power.
The maximum of the NDA program is to over through the Islamic military junta from the power and form a broad-based national interim government, but since SPLM/ and NDA are working towards this since they signed the statement of Asmara 1995, and through these eight years there was fighting in all fronts (even though it was far away from what was needed), diplomatic, military fronts, political uprising in many fields inside the Sudan. Now the situation is different, SPLM with NDA neither they manage to defeat nor over through the Ingaz nor the Ingaz did. That is why there is peace negotiation.
Since in this negotiation the Ingaz regime is a genuine partner then there will be bargaining in the level of what you may gain or loose. I understand that every honest person wants the maximum for the best of the Sudan; which is available through the principle of win-win, in bargaining the write approach is always win-loose.
I think the out come (if the parties manage to reach any agreement) of the ongoing peace talks would be full of positive things (this the win side) and negative things (this the loose side). I don’t agree with you that it all about finding chair for Garang after the new arrangement; by the way you get a chance to see how Garang moves from country to another and the way he is usually welcomed you will know he is not less than president of state, this just to correct what is maximized in the media about that Garang is fighting for the positions.
On the other hand I would like to focus on very important thing, that many people specially who live in the Diaspora do not see, there is daily need for rethinking war forget about the international pressure, the fighters who made the victories who share memories with many of the passed away with martyrs have their own say (this an internal discussions with in the SPLA). I think Mashacos is playing a major role in reconstructing the state if the real new Sudan supporters understand how to play the political game with one of the well-experienced enemies.
For give me for writing long, I know it distracts the attention of the readers, but in such issues it is so hard to throw a few words and go away, any way the coming few days will come up with the most important choices that Sudanese nations need to make one of them work and I always believe; if given choice A & B, the real freedom is to create C.
We will see.
