Hey Frankly,
Have you realized that you have opened more than one discussion that mainly rotates around the same topics, that is, Christianity, Secularism and Southern Sudan?
Southern Sudan, like it or not, is a big part of any religious dialogue or governance system in Sudan. If you are making the comparison on the ground that Islam is the best system for Sudan, then we say no – a very big No. And if it’s an effort to denounce Secularism in Sudan, then we are up in arms, because we, Southerners, welcome Secularism with open arms. For unlike Islam, it assures us equal civil liberties and justice.
There’s no killing in Christianity, Jesus, unlike Mohammed, never participated in any war or called for any war to be carried out in his name or in the name of Christianity, nor did he promise Christians that the best way to win Paradise is to shed blood even if it’s that of the infidels.
Islamic teachings, if you are really sincere, are the ones that are based on killings and shedding blood, you kill for whatever reason, even if it’s a lifeless teddy bear!
And if it’s just a matter of copying and pasting quotes from the internet, here you go:
"Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war."
"Fight those who do not believe until they all surrender, paying the protective tax in submission."
"Fight them until all opposition ends and all submit to Allah."
"So fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief [non-Muslims]) and all submit to the religion of Allah alone (in the whole world)."
"A man whose face was covered with an iron mask came to the Prophet and said, ‘Allah's Apostle! Shall I fight or embrace Islam first?' The Prophet said, ‘Embrace Islam first and then fight.' So he embraced Islam, and was martyred. Allah's Apostle said, ‘A Little work, but a great reward.'"
All is see is killing and blood everywhere.
You are tirelessly copying and quoting verses from the Old Testament, while Christianity is actually based on the New Testament and Jesus’ teachings.
An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth----was replaced by “love your neighbor as yourself” because then you won’t kill anyone the same way you wouldn’t want to be killed.
However, Christianity, like Islam, had its dark ages too and The Inquisition, for that matter, is considered to be the darkest period in the Church history. In short, people were burned alive on charges of heresy. But Christians themselves stood up and fought the Church, it wasn’t easy, but they ultimately won. Today, the countries that once abetted Inquisition are now Pillars of Secularism and religious tolerance. Tell me when are you Muslims going to do the same?
The difference between Christianity and Islam Mr. Frankly is that Suleman Rushdi (Satanic Verses) will never enjoy a cup of tea in the open, while Dan Brown (DaVinci Code) is making millions by promoting his book and even turning it into a movie. The Pope was shocked, he expressed his concern, but he didn’t call for his execution. On the contrary, his book opened up a dialogue, what I call a sincere dialogue, among Christians and non-believers. Do you want me to remind you how you went ballistic over the unfortunate incident of cartoons!
For you to sit here and say that Christianity calls for killings is nothing but laughable. Do you follow the news, do you hear Ibn Laden, do you see the number of innocent people who are killed day and night in the name of Islam?!
Those who live in glass should refrain from throwing stones!
