I do not agree with your analysis. I do not accept that all the Sudanese people were very idiots to the extent that The Greater Mirghani was claiming supernatural powers and they accepted that claims just that without any prove. You ought to respect the minds of our grandfathers. Furthermore, I would like to remind you that the Greater Mirghani was respected from very intelligent and famous persons who were living at his time or near that time. I cannot rule out completely any assumptions of misuse and forgery however, claiming these very serious allegations need stringent prove.
I disagree with the current Mirghani political stance, however, we do not need to paint the Greater Mirghani’s history with unfavorable paints in order to justify our opposition to his ancestor. Moreover, many current sofi sects organize every Sunday night a recitals of EL Mould which was written by the old Mirghani. This indicates the wide acceptance of the Mirghani as holy man or (Waly Salih). If you do not believe in Mirghani’s good faith and as Wali Salih that is not a sin anyhow, however, if you turned out to state that Mirghani was a cheater you, certainly gone very far.
To Brother Degna’s reference that the Khatmia sect was discouraging their followers from enrolling in education, the facts are extremely in the contrary. This claim was said against the Umma party and the Insar sect in particular. The Mirghanis were notorious of encouraging their followers to send their sons and daughters to higher education both internally and in Egypt. This issue is well known by all the Sudanese and need not any prove.
Brother Adil, I admire much your writings however please be careful do not take radical stance in quick analysis specially when you appraise such important figures like Greater Mirghani.
