 The Art of Manipulation (Re: Outcast)

I have read responses from different Sudanese "Leftists" at various times since the war on Iraq started. I was really surprised with their efforts to explain the whole mess in our country (or the whole region) as our fault because these nations have let themselves be ruled and manipulated by these regimes. To me this is not consistent with how Marx would have explained this mess, nor is it consistent with the discourse of "Leftists" in the the "developed nations" including the U.S.. While I am fully aware and appreciative of the difficult times and disasters the "Leftists" parties had to indure under these oppressive propogandas of religious zealots, and even prior to that. I don't know how they couldn't see through this manipulation and identify the real reasons behind it (or may be they could, but reluctant to say, I don't know).
After all, Hitler was able to manipulate the intellectually advanced nation of Germany, I am sure they must have had grievences against the Jews and/or the outside world, this is why they lined up behind someone as racist as Hitler who was able to manipulate their own worries in the worst possible way .
In the art of manipulation, the victim (manipulee) usually has grievences , but somehow feels unempowered to take actions on them, either because of the lack of economic, intellectual, or other tools. The manipulator, on the other hand, acts very deliberately and with intent, he knows how to manipulate this vulnerability, and has the tools and the power to do so.
I am not sure if raising our shoulders with indifference and blaming ourselves for whatever is coming to us is the right reaction we should take. The question is what course of action (for the ones who have not been manipulated)they should take to bring our nations to reality and make them realize the tragic consequences of their actions, and to protect our interests in the future against similar, and may be more brutal manipulation.
