Dear Zolo this is if you are thinking of comming to UK.
www.gmc-uk.org
it is a difficult start and you have to go through many exams but at the end you will get proper training and will have registration at one of the royal colleges which are recognized world wide and most of all you will get paid as you are training.. take care and wish you all the best

Ya Amer. I saw you have been added to the list. I thought you will write to the list and tell them exactly what you want. From what you mentioned so far, you wanted to do something in Cardiology. Unfortunately, in the USA or UK/Ireland you have to pass through Internal Medicine or Pediatric Residency before you settle in Cardiology. Write to me privately and tell me exactly what you want. I can fix you with an attachment in UK or Ireland either in Internal Medicine or Pediatrics. You have to realize that the road is difficult and you are a young doctor. You might have to work without a payed salary for some time before you get your first job. Also you have to pass some examinations before you get registered.Ithink Dr Einas(Zola123 would be very helpful to you, because she is in touch with a young Doctors group in the UK. As for the USA, it is a totally differnt issue. If you are currently holding a payed job, hold on to it and try to pass the qualifying USMLE examinations from there before you decide to move.I see the other members gave you good informations about specializations in Europe, which I don't know much about. You can call me for more details. Just remember, withhard work, you can do what ever you want and you have to climb the ladder from its first step.

Re: Question for medicine specialist..... (Re: Abdalla Ali Abdalla)

Dear Zolo, You asked
Quote: 2.what is Master, PhD degree in medicine |
Master and PhD are academic qualifications, ulike speciality which is a professional qualification. The difference is that academic qualification will entilte you to work in academic institutions like universities,in addition to all institutions dealing with research, including medical industries ( Pharmacietical companies, medical equipments... etc), while professional qualification will qualify you for the speciality you are interested in. That means, having a PhD in cardilogy-related field does not make you a cardiologist, as you still need the training needed for that speciality. You can in fact get a PhD in any other thing than your field of speciality (including basic science) and have a clinical speciality in the same time. However, the majority prefer to get thier PhD in the same field as this tends to promote their carrier. Remember a PhD-holder stands stronger if there is competion about a job.
Tip: As you are young, I would recommend that you start with a PhD if you are interested in making carrier in Western Euorope. While doing your PhD, you can learn the language and sit for the required exams, as it is the requirements in most european states. As far as I know, there is no place where you can just come and start your speciality traing, as you have to have a resistence permit first. In the UK you can get a visa to sit for exams. Once you have entered the UK, you can start seeking attachment and even jobs -which you most likely woundn`t get before having references in the UK- and hence the attachment.
Good luck
aymen

I see Alakh Aymen gave you very good advice too. Starting with a Master or a PhD is an excellent option, provided you have the means to suuport your self, because in most of the cases your are not payed at all or perhaps underpayed. This is the approach followed by many chinese Doctors who come to the USA. Thses are very hard working folks. They can find a side work, like doing Pizza delivery in their spare time. This, like what Dr Aymen said, will help them learn the language and later, when they start their residency, backed with an Academic degree, will greatly inhance their chances of getting into the Residecy Program they wanted. In Europe, as far as I remember from my days over there, you can't work with your student, Exam, or visitor's Visa. First, you have to decide where you want to go. For the UK, you get registered to the GMC through a double sponser program if you want to avoid the PlAB test, at leat this was the case in the past. I am sure the members of the Medics list will help you a lot in that regrd. The Irish Medical council, I heared, now a days, also requires somthing similar to the Plab. I feel this dicussion will be greatly appreciated if you start addressing it in the Medics list, because many of the members hold senior posts in UK and Ireland. Best of Luck.
