this statement by Abugarjah is unfortunate to say the least. the people who revolted against dictatorships in October 1964 or in March/April 1985 were not RIJRIJA and GHAWGAA or lynch mob as they say in English.
The sudanese people represented by their tradeunions, students and professional associations, workers, farmers, armed forces and other regular forces, the dispossessed in urban centres, and women are not GHAWGAA ya Abugarjah. these are the people whose lives and livelihoods are affected by political and economic oppression and mismanagement of a country. civil disobedience and general strike are their peaceful tools to realise change and make themselves heard.
whatever the weaknesses of democracy nothing on earth justifies tyranny or absolutist rule. the real challenge to you and other intellectuals and educated people is to find ways to protect freedom and human rights and democracy in a country crippled by poverty, illiteracy and disenfranchisement of the masses.
