Dominic Green, writer
Historian Dominic Green has been acclaimed in Britain as ‘a major talent’ (Mail on Sunday) for his groundbreaking Elizabethan biography The Double Life of Doctor Lopez: Spies, Shakespeare and the Plot to Poison Elizabeth I.
Born in 1970, Dominic took a Master’s degree in English Literature at Oxford University, before becoming a professional guitarist. Artists he has worked with include Burt Bacharach, Dionne Warwick, Elvis Costello, Annie Ross, the Karminsky Experience and the JTQ.
After returning to academia for a second Masters’ degree at Harvard University in the history of religion, in 2007 Dominic published Three Empires on the Nile: The Victorian Jihad, 1869-1899 (British title: Armies of God: Islam and Empire on the Nile) – ‘erudite, ironic and supremely entertaining’ (Boston Globe).
Currently he is reading for a Ph.D in Comparative History at Brandeis University. He lives in Newton, Massachusetts with his wife and daughter.
