Dear Dr. Mansour Khalid,
I am thrilled to see you joining us in this forum, and actively participating in it. We see you as one of the giant fathers of the New Sudan. As I told you, in Abu Dhabi Hilton, you have taken part in shaping our lives since the days of your deep friendship with my Father Al-Ustaz Mahmoud Mohemd Taha, and your days with the defunct May Regime.
Your joining the SPLM was the most monumental decision any operational politician has taken in the modern history of northern Sudan. Your mind and hand, together with the mind and hand of our wonderful hero Dr. John Garang, yet another giant father, constitute major columns and beams for the new country we are all building together at these difficult times.
Only history will tell, how a wonderful gift you have been to our country, and how greatly misjudged and misunderstood you have been for a very long time. Your day and time is upon us. And you should know that we appreciate you as a magnificent gift from Almighty, as we love and admire Dr. Garnag, and what you both are doing for us, and for humanity. Yes, for humanity. You are building the country that transformed Osama bin Laden to a global menace from a regional little known fanatic. You are, for all practical reasons, doing your fair share in dismantling the menace of fanaticism from the face of the earth. In short, there are far greater consequences of what you are doing than what you and others may think, great as you all might be!
I have no doubt in my mind that your latest piece, posted here, and which I read in one breath a few days ago from another source, will go down in history as a masterpiece for reconciliation for all nations in this planet to ponder upon. In it I saw your maturity as an elder statesmen, whose anger is transformed into mercy for the guilty, in deep understanding that they are victims of the contexts of their times and guilts.
In this masterpiece, I, very clearly, saw you separate the chaff from the seed. The way you polarized Al-Khatib, Mustafa Osman Isamail, Gahzi Salah El-Din, Ghotbi Al-Mahdi, and others on the one hand, and the influential Palace folks and others, on the other, was a master stroke of a genius. I agree with you on the totality of what you wrote, and can’t help but think of John Adams, Jefferson, and Madison, the three “true” thinking founding fathers of the United States of America. We got all three of them in one: Mansour Khalid. The only difference between those three and your esteemed person is that your task of is much more cumbersome, and you are superbly qualified for it.
Thank you for being who you are!!!!!!!
