GOSS Mission USA and the SPLM Receive Condolences in Washington DC
The Government of Southern Sudan (GOSS) mission and the Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement in the Washington Metropolitan Area received condolences today, Sunday May 4th, 2008, on the tragic losses from the plane crash at the Mission premises in Washington DC.
Scores of Sudanese and representatives of political parties and civil society organizations in the area and friends of Sudan and the SPLM joined us in a heartfelt show of support and brotherhood. The loss of Comrades Dr. Justin Yac Arop, Advisor to the President and Lt. Gen. Dominic Dim Deng, Minister of SPLA Affairs, their spouses and their gallant colleagues continues to pain all of us, but we are heartened by the sentiments of shared grief that their families and the wider Sudanese family have received. It is a testament to the good works to which they dedicated their lives and during which they met their death.
We would like to therefore acknowledge on behalf of our leadership and the families of our compatriots the following people and organizations:

Our collective condolences go to the families of our martyrs, President Salva Kiir and the leadership of the SPLM and GOSS, the rank and file of the SPLA and the wider Sudanese Community.
We echo the call of President Salva Kiir to all our people to remain united and find consolation in this dark hour and to recommit ourselves to the objectives of the struggle to which our lost compatriots dedicated their lives.
