'Stupidest Statements Awards' of 2007 Announced by Man with Perfect IQ
TAVARES, Fla., Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- "The Stupidest Statements Awards" of 2007, bestowed upon the famous for their misjudgments and misstatements, have just been announced by Mega Genius(R), "The man with the perfect IQ(TM)." His fifth annual prizes of recognition for "crash-and-burn lapses in intelligence" are just for fun.
1. Lauren Caitlin Upton, Miss South Carolina Teen USA, for her answer in the Miss Teen USA 2007 pageant when asked why a fifth of Americans cannot locate the U.S. on a world map: "I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some, uh, people out there in our nation don't have maps and, uh, I believe that our, uh, education like such as, uh, South America and, uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and, I believe that they should, uh, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, or, uh, should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future, for us." 2. George W. Bush, US President -- who asked during the 2000 presidential race, "Is our children learning?" -- for his assessment of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001: "As yesterday's positive report card shows, childrens do learn when standards are high and results are measured." 6. Channing Crowder, American football linebacker for the Miami Dolphins, for his admission about an upcoming trip to England: "I couldn't find London on a map if they didn't have the names of the countries. واشنطن، 8 يناير/كانون الثاني (وكالة أنباء أمريكا إن أرابيك) – أحتل الرئيس الأمريكي جورج بوش مركزين في قائمة أكثر عشرة تصريحات غبية في عام 2007 منها المركز الثاني مباشرة ولم تتفوق عليه في التصريحات الغبية غير تصريحات لملكة جمال مراهقات ولاية جنوب كارولينا. كما جاء اثنان من مرشحي الحزب الجمهوري على القائمة هما القس السابق مايك هكابي وعمدة نيويورك السابق رودي جولياني
وأعلنت "جائزة أغبى التصريحات لعام 2007" - وهى الجائزة التي تضفى للمشاهير الذين يسيئون التقدير ويدلون بتصريحات "غبية" – على موقع "ميجا جينياس" وهى الجائزة السنوية الخامسة التي ترصد الهفوات الصادمة في تعليقات الشخصيات العامة، وهى جائزة للمرح فقط.
وجاء تصريح لبوش في المركز الثاني حينما سئل "هل يتعلم أطفالنا؟" فقال في 26 سبتمبر/أيلول :" الاطفالنيون (أي جمع كلمة أطفال التي هي جمع أصلا) يتعلمون عندما تكون المعايير عالية والنتائج تقاس". وعلقت الجمعية على أخطاءه بقولهم "من الواضح أن التعليم ليس أحد شروط وظيفة الرئيس).
وجاء تصريح آخر لبوش في المركز العاشر فقد قال في تصريح له في 2 مايو/أيار أخطأ فيه فقال بدلا من أن يقول انه هو "الرئيس الأعلى للقوات المسلحة" قال: "كما تعلمون جميعا , فان موقفي واضح, فأنا الشخص الآمر". هذا وكانت فتاة مراهقة أمريكية، وفق القائمة التي وصلت لوكالة أنباء أمريكا إن أرابيك نسخة منها، قد تفوقت على بوش في التصريحات الغبية المرحة وهي ملكة جمال مراهقات ولاية جنوب كارولينا "لورين كيتلين ابتون".
وكان ذلك حينما سئلت في موكب ملكة جمال 2007 في 25 أغسطس/آب عن سبب عجز 20 في المائة من الأمريكيين عن تحديد موقع أمريكا على خريطة العالم فأجابت بتلعثم: "أنا شخصيا اعتقد أن امريكيوا أمريكا لا يستطيعون ذلك لأن ، آه ، بعض ، آه ، الناس عندنا لا يملكون خرائط و، آه ، واعتقد انه ينبغي على التعليم هنا في الولايات المتحدة أن يساعد الولايات المتحدة ، آه , أو ينبغي أن يساعد جنوب إفريقيا والعراق والدول الأسيوية ، وبذلك سنكون قادرين على بناء مستقبلنا."
وجاءت مطربة الريف الأمريكي "كيلى بيكلر" في المركز الثالث حيث ردت على سؤال عن إحدى دول أوروبا في برنامج تليفزيوني في 15 نوفمبر/تشرين الثاني 2007 بقولها: "ربما يكون هذا سؤالا غبيا, ولكنى كنت أظن أن أوروبا نفسها دولة".
أما الممثلة كاثرين جيتا جونز الحاصلة على جائزة الأوسكار فقالت في تصريح لمجلة نيوزويك عن سبب عدم قدرتها على سلق للبيض: "في الواقع اعتقد إن "طبخ" البيض هو عملية صعبة التنفيذ".
أما لاعب كرة القدم الأمريكية تشانينج كراودر قال في 24 أكتوبر/تشرين الأول تعليقا على رحلته لبريطانيا: "لا أستطيع أن احدد موقع لندن على الخريطة إذا لم تكن عليها أسماء البلاد. واقسم بالله إنني حتى لا اعرف أي شيئ عن اللاشيء. لكني اعرف أن ايطاليا تشبه الحذاء".
وجاء في المركز السابع رودي جولياني، عمدة نيويورك السابق والمرشح الجمهوري لرئاسة الولايات المتحدة في 2008 حيث قال في 2 مارس/ آذار 2007 كاشفا عن انه يحادث نفسه: "نحن جميعا لا نتفق في كل الأمور, حتى أنني لا اتفق مع نفسي في كل الأمور" .
أما باريس هيلتون – البليونيرة الشهيرة - علقت في يونيو/حزيران على متاعبها مع الشرطة كلما جاوزت السرعة القانونية أو قادت وهي ثملة: "رجال الشرطة دائما ما يفعلون ذلك، فهم يوقفونني دائما للتحرش بي".
أما مايك هوكابى – القس السابق المرشح في انتخابات الرئاسة الأمريكية في 2008- فقال في سبتمبر/أيلول أمام مشجعين من الرابطة الوطنية للبنادق : "أنا متأكد تماما من أن هناك عمليات "صيد بط بري" في الجنة. وأنا لا استطيع الانتظار".
