اولا دعني اشير الي خليفية هذا الخبر
1) يرفض الاعلام الرسمي الحكومي في السودان ( إذاعه وتلفزيون) وترفض الصحف شبه المستقله بالداخل نشر أي وجهة نظر للمتاثرين بالخزان وتضرب عليهم تعتيما غير مسبوق وقد اعتقلت مجموعه ابنتاء المنطقه لمدد متفاوته وتم ضرب وتعذيبهم وتشريدهم حينما حاولوا الحديث عن ما يجري لهم ولاهلهم.
2) تقيم الحكومه سياجه من الصمت حول المشروع ولا تريد من أي شخص ان تيتحدث عنه.
3) حتي في داخل الحكومه هنالك شخص واحد هو الذي يعلم بما يجري وهو وزير الدوله للري، وحتي وزير الري المركزي نفسه لا يعلم ما يجري، وقد تاكد هذا لنا نحن في تجمع المتاثرين بالخزان من التصريحات المتضاريه التي يصدرها وزبر الري والتي تتضارب مع تلك التي يصدرها وزير الدوله.
4) خليفة هذا الخبر تتمثل في ان تجمع المتاثرين بالخارج يقوم الان بيتجميع التوقيعات من السودانيين وغيرهم علي خطاب ( مرفق ادناه) لارساله لكل الممولين للمشروع لمطالبتهم بوقف التمويل الي ان يتم اخضاع المشروع لدراسه علميه واخضاعه لمعايير علميه صارمه لاثبات جدواه.
أيضا يعد تجمع المتاثريين لتسسير مظاهرة احتجاج للسفاره الكويتيه بلندن للاحتجاج علي مشاركة الكويت في تمويل المشروع. سيتم اصدار اعلان لكل السودانيين في لندن للمشاركه في المظاهره وسيشترك في المظاهره العديد من الجمعيات من حول العالم المهتمه بالاثار والبئه وخلافه. سنقوم بنشر الاعلان للمظاهره في موقع سودانييز اون لاين.
استباقا لكل ذلك جاء هذا الخبر للتشويش علي نشاط تجمع المتاثرين.
ادناه الخطاب الذي نود ارساله للمومولين للمشروع واناشد كل الاخوه الذين يدعمون هذا الطلب ارسال موافقتهم مع الاسم الكامل والعنوان الالكتروني لشخصي علي العنوان التالي:

الخطاب
Dear Sir,
We are writing to you with utmost urgency to ask you to withhold funds disbursement for Merowe Dam project in Sudan.
As you must be aware, this project violates international guidelines on large dams developed by the World Bank and the World Commission on Dams, among others.
The project’s study, design, and implementation even fails to meet the minimum standards accepted by the International Commission on Large Dams.
The project planning, preparation, tendering etc. have categorically lacked the involvement of the affected people, and were completely non- transparent.
While the project implementation is well underway, 70 % of the affected people still do not know what will happen to them. The government has not selected any site for their resettlement nor has any work to address this issue been undertaken.
The rights of affected people who have tried to be involved in the project have been violated by the government in many respects. For example, when the people of Korgheli village demonstrated against their resettlement to a desert location, their protest was violently suppressed with live bullets and tear gas and many were arrested, tortured and abused. Affected people have been denied any access to information about the project or a place to voice their concerns publicly, as the government has kept strict censorship on all issues relating to the project. The Sudanese government’s excesses in human rights since 1989 is well documented by numerous organizations working in the field.
Over the years the government denied affected people any meaningful representation. When the government’s own committee rejected the resettlement sites as too barren , the government dissolved the committee and went ahead forcibly resettling the people in the desert.
No comprehensive study of the project’s socio-economic and environmental impacts has been made public. Various sources from inside and outside Sudan have voiced their concerns about the project’s social and environmental impacts. A leading expert on water related disease has enumerated more than twenty diseases that could result from the dam’s construction and highlighted a number of measures that should be taken to mitigate the health problems the dam will cause. None of these has been addressed.
Of equal importance is the loss of great antiquities which the project will cause. The area which will be inundated by the reservoir is one of the richest areas in the country with respect to Cu####e and Old Nubian civilization. Numerous calls have been made by historians and archaeologists for the government to postpone the implementation of the project until the whole area has been explored to avoid inundation of irreplaceable antiquities and history.
To avoid the loss of history, destruction of human lives and environmental catastrophe, a worldwide campaign is well underway to get the implementation of this project halted until democracy, human rights, and peace are restored in Sudan.
We therefore, again, urge your institution to withhold its finance for the project until the above issues have been addressed.
Affected people supported by Sudanese and international civil society organizations are calling for the postponement of the project until it has been subjected to rigorous scrutiny, and its effects on both people and the environment have been thoroughly investigated and assessed. The project design needs to be upgraded to match internationally accepted standards such as the World Commission on Dams ( WCD). An overall updated review of the project’s most troubling components by an internationally reputable firm to review the work done since 1992, especially in light of the findings of the WCD, is of vital and critical importance.
We therefore, again, urge your institution to withhold its finance for the project until the above issues have been addressed.
