Dear Mansour
Thanks for the article. Personally I think the discovery of oil in Sudan is a curse and not a blessing- it will create more problems rather than solving them. Rich natural resources (e.g. oils and diamonds) have always triggered conflict in developing countries that lack wise and charismatic leadership –the conflict in Sera Leone is a clear example.
These resources are also the reason behind the international interference in local conflicts and affairs- USA and its allies invasion in Iraq – also USA and its allies pressure for peace deal in Sudan is motivated by self interest in Sudan’s newly discovered oil resources.--- the war in Sudan have been going on for decades –why enforcing a peace agreement becomes a priority now - -- just because of oil.
The outcome is a pre-mature peace agreement by parties who are not genuinely interested and want peace and we can see now the death of John Garang might sabotage the peace road in Sudan and our dream of a peaceful and united Sudan.
Regards,
Afaf
