As for ####riba, the bull, he was finally able to extract himself from the mud. He certainly was frightened to find himself for the first time in his life lost and lonely on that piece of wilderness. He soon started roaming aimlessly around in desperate quest for food and companionship. To his utmost delight he suddenly found himself on a rich environment with plenty of water sources and lots of edible grass and vegetation. So he immedialtely began devouring the edible grass and drinking froma spring of water, since he had been starving for almost one full day. After ####riba reached his fill, he began mooing loudly out of sheer joy.0 Not so far from the whereabout of Shotriba, the bull, was a jungle ruled by a revered lion named Akila. The subjects of that animal kingdom consists of other lions, lioness, tigers, leopards, wolves, coyotees, etc, etc...Akila the lion was out of touc with the outside world. He had never vemntured out tofhe terriotry of his kingdom, and had been totally dependant on his subjects for his own survivals.0 Among the subjects of Akila the lion were two witty coyotees, sho were also brothers. The oldest and wisest was called Kalila and the youngest was Dimna. One day Dimna said to his brother Kalila: " I wonder shy is Akila the lion so inactive and ill-informed with the outside world?" Kalila answered:" Who care, brother, we were just two less insignificant subjects of this animal kingdom who are bounded by the authority and laws of the land, whether we like it or not. We are not fit to conduct the affair of the kingdom. " Dimna answered;" I am not in your league, brother. And let it be known to you that those who seek the clodenes of the Sultan do not do that merely to gratify their survival needs. Theu=y do it to gain stature among their peers and to appease their enemies. Some people are deprived of aspiration. Thjose are the ones who are pleased with the little they get and revel in their inferior status; such is the case of a dog who is happy of acquiring a barely meatless piece of bone. As for the high achievers, they are incontent with mediocrecy and always aspire for the bestthey can get. Such is the case of a lion who caught a rabbit but would discard it to go after a close to sight deer. Haven't you seen , brother Kalila, a dog mervously wagging hid tail as a sign of appreciation when you throw at him a junky recepe of meal? In the meantime, a powerfull and proud elephant would remain motionless while being setrved his meal unless hid breeder flatterly rubbed on his belly. Those among us who are well-to-do but are readily genand generously responsive to the needs of their kins and community live in the heart and memories of their people way beyond their chronlogical ages. Those among us who are less endowed and in the meantime are uptight to wards the needs of the others are deadlier than the dead. And finally, those among us whose main drive in life is to over-indulge and gratify their survival needs are within the class of animals. " Kalila answered: " God points, brother Dimna, however, reckon that every living being encapsulates his her potentials and destiny in life. If such living being is secured enough within his or her stature, he or she is destined to be content and happy throughout his or her life. Thus, no staus in life is demeaning ." Dimna answered: " Staus are indiscriminately contendable and are based entirely on strife. One can rise to higher status through self-decipline and strife. Those who put on mediocre strife plummet to lower status. " Kalila answered: " Rising to higher staus is difficult while plummeting to lower status is easy. Such is the case of a heavy rock. Lifting a heavy rock to the level of the shoulder by an strong man is harder than putting it down to the ground. ' Damna answered: " We should always aspire for higher status in life. Besides, how can we always be content with a debased status if we can move up to a higher one?" Kalila answered: " I smellsomethin in the air. What are you up for, brother? "0
