PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS: Working under the direct supervision of UNDP communications Manager, the incumbent shall have the following duties and responsibilities: Duties and responsibilities: 1. Update the current website by adding and removing sections on the website where appropriate and upon request. 2. Design a new UNDP Country Office Website based on the web framework and strategy (prepared by the communications and ICT managers) aiming to be amongst the top 10 UNDP best websites. 3. Design and develop an Arabic version of the new Country Office website. 4. Administer the UNDP internet websites. 5. Ensure that all web pages comply with appropriate UNDP OIST policies, guidelines, and standards. 6. Oversee content updates and ensure (amongst other things) the harmonisation of the layout. 7. Design and set up an automated notification system to remind the content providers to update their respective web pages 8. Ensure continuous site functionality and performance, including links; monitors site activity. 9. Design and set up an invisible hit counter with real-time detailed web stats for the new website. 10. Post job vacancies upon request and remove them immediately after deadline. 11. Identify, select and organise existing photo materials across the projects for UNDP photo gallery. 12. Produce a monthly report on the performance of the Country Office website. 13. Perform other relevant tasks as requested by supervisors. Experience: The incumbent should have a solid experience in web development and design. UNDP experience is preferable. Qualifications: The incumbent should be: Excellent in web development and design. Excellent skills in web scripting languages, and programming. Solid experience in design software, especially Macromedia Flash, Dreamweaver and Adobe Photoshop; database tools. Behavioural Competencies:
- Good organizational skills and sound judgment - Creativity in design is highly desirable
- Ability to work efficiently in a team environment and under pressure
- Ability to take initiatives when things are not moving
- Ability to work in team environment and interact with UNDP staff
- Strong detail-oriented skills - Gender and cultural sensitivity is a must.
